New England Tech (NEIT) has been in contact with the Rhode Island Department of Health regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and is closely monitoring updates by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  NEIT’s emergency response team (ERT) is monitoring and assessing institutional planning related to the 2019 COVID-19.  To date, there have been no reported cases of the coronavirus on any of NEIT’s campuses.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people take the following simple but effective cautionary steps:

  • It is not too late to get a seasonal flu vaccine. (Call your primary care provider or stop by any pharmacy as many now offer flu shots.)
  • Cover coughs and sneezes in your elbow or sleeve.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • If you feel unwell, stay at home, or if you are a resident student, stay in your room, in order to protect yourself and other people.
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds to avoid spreading any virus to others or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Seek medical care if you are experiencing flu like symptoms.
