Timothy Henry, Ph.D., PMP, Professor, Cybersecurity Center Director

Tim has a deep background in IT research, teaching, industry, and military service. He has a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, and a BS in Mathematics from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Following his Coast Guard service, Tim devoted his attention to ‘bleeding-edge’ technology in a research and development environment.  These projects involved cellular phones, GPS, interactive 3D visualization projects and touch screen technologies as components of larger integrated systems at a time when those technologies were just coming into the marketplace.

For the next decade, he continued to work as a project manager on large corporate- or state-wide information systems. During that time, he obtained his Project Management Professional certification.

For the last fifteen years, he has been in the university setting, first at the University of Rhode Island and now at NEIT.  During this time, he was able to perform research on 3D techniques for rapid texture mapping from compressed images and to lend his experience to the design of few interactive 3D projects. He has developed and taught courses in several areas including gaming, software engineering, operating systems, digital forensics, and cybersecurity.
