MacOS Sequoia (MacOS 15.x) and Conflicting New Features
If a user upgrades his Mac to the latest MacOS Sequoia (MacOS 15) or buys a new machine with MacOS Sequoia pre-installed, Apple has added some new features that conflict with NEIT-Secure and prevent access to our network.
Private WIFI Address: Apple now added Private WIFI address to MacOS 15 and later.
When a user connects to NEIT-Secure, it will automatically turn the feature on.
You need to disable this feature.
Go to the Apple Menu (top left corner of the Desktop) >
- System Settings >
- Wi-Fi then click the Details button for the NEIT-Secure connection.
- Scroll down to Private Wi-Fi address is in the middle of the page and make sure you change the drop down from Fixed or Rotating to Off.
Private Relay: If the user pays for extra storage on iCloud they have a new feature called Private Relay. This feature works like a VPN and it conflicts with our network.
You need to disable this feature.
Go to Apple Menu (top left corner of the Desktop)
- System Settings then click on the users iCloud account image on the top left corner of the System Settings page. Once you click on the image, it will open the iCloud account page.
- Click on the iCloud+ link. Private Relay should be in the iCloud+ features box.
- You can click on it and on the window that pops up you can turn it Off.
Note: Private Relay will only be present when the user pays for an iCloud+ Storage plan.
